Are your staff qualified?
All our staff have a minimum of a Level 3 or equivalent childcare qualification (some of our staff hold higher qualifications including university degrees-bachelor and masters) and are experienced in looking after children. We aim for a balance of younger newer qualified staff and more mature experienced staff, and operate a mentoring system whereby less experienced staff are supervised by a more experienced staff member. We support all staff to achieve higher levels of professional qualifications and engage routinely in in-house staff training.

Who looks after my child in the Nursery?

Every child is allocated a Key Worker who has primary responsibility for looking after that child, including feeding, changing, sleeping, discipline and comforting. The Key Worker forms a relationship with the child, the family and other agencies with whom there is informed and sensitive communication. By being attuned to the child's needs the Key Worker is acutely aware of their well being and any changes in their behaviour which might raise concerns. From time to time in addition to the Nursery's permanent staff there will be supply staff on duty to cover staff absences. All supply staff have been interviewed and checked as suitably experienced to work in the Nursery.

How is my child's learning recorded or assessed?

Each child's Key Worker will complete a Online Learning Journal for the child based on their observations of them and the activities the child is involved in. Recording, assessment and planning are part of a continuous process and are conducted in line with the Curriculum for Excellence Pre-Birth to 3 and 3-5 Frameworks. Online Learning Journals, whilst confidential, are available online for parents to see and may be shared with the child, family and other professionals in making decisions about providing for the child’s progress.
